Chinese Earthquake
Relief Fundraising Efforts
Sichuan province in China has suffered a major earthquake. The death toll is on the rise, and many people are in desperate need of food, medicine, and shelter.

The many newly arrived immigrants, along with the long-time Chinese residents, want to do our part in sending assistance to our countrymen. In addition, we have received many queries from the general public as to how they can donate to a relief fund.

In view of these inquiries, The WestMan Chinese Association has set up donation boxes at Maple Leaf, in locations that are readily accessible to the general public – within the city of Brandon,  and the outlying communities in the Westman area. A special account will be set up with Westman's Royal Bank of Canada to collate all donations to be forwarded to an official agency for the China earthquake victims.

Megumi Masaki and performing students from the Brandon University School of Music have organized a benefit concert for May 27th, 2008. The concert is at 8:00 pm in the Lorne Watson Music Hall followed by a candlelight memorial at 9:00 pm. All are welcome.

Thank you, everyone, for your generous donations for the China Earthquake Relief Fund.
